[Description] GALLERY 65 Presents an Art Exhibition this coming June 1st featuring 2 renowned artists Win Pe and Sein Myint (Shwe Gyi Doe). This is Saya Win Pe's first exhibition in Myanmar after being away for over two decades from the country. Sein Myint is a friend and at one time apprenticed himself to Artist Win Pe in his early years as an artist. The Exhibit will feature 30 paintings of the most recent works of both the Artists (20 by Win Pe and 10 by Sein Myint) and the Exhibition will be on for 2 weeks starting from the 1st of June through the 16th of June at the Gallery. More about the Artists: WIN PE Born and brought up in Mandalay. Learned the art of painting from Father Shwe Pyi U Ba Tin, High School Art Teacher U Tun Nyunt, U Ba Thet of Mandalay and U Khin Maung Bank Manager of Mandalay. Studied Education mostly in Mandalay University. Served as Headmaster of Joint State High School in Htone Gyi, Mandalay and Principal of Mandalay State school of Art, Music and Dancing from 1966 to 1973. Exhibited serveral paintings since childhood in joint public exhibitions. Close Art colleagues are Khin Maung Yin and Paw Oo Thet. Apart from Art of Painting studied Music, Film Making and Writing. SEIN MYINT (Shwe Chi Doe) Was born in 1945 in Sagaing Hills in Upper Myanmar near Mandalay. After completing high school, he continued his studies until he reached the final year at the Mandalay Arts and Science University majoring in Myanmar language and literature. As as student of the arts, Sein Myint apprenticed himself to well-known personalities in the world of Myanmar art like Paw Oo Thet, U Win Pe and U Lu Tin. He continued to improve his skills by studying together with master craftsmen like U Maung Maung Tin (M.A), U Aye Myint (Master of traditional Myanmar Design) and U Win Maung (Tampawadi). Around 1985, he became interested in traditional Myanmar tapestry and decided to pursue it as a medium of expression. In 1987, his watercolor painting titled "Irrawaddy River Scene" won a prize at the International UNICEF Painting Competition and Sein Myint donated his prize money to the UNICEF Children's Fund. In 1989-1990, his tapestry embodying traditional Myanmar art was selected to grace the walls of the main chamber of the United Nations in New York. In 1994, he was awarded a prize for infusing folk art with creativity. In 1995, he was appointed by the Government of the Union of Myanmar as an expert and consultant on traditional Myanmar folk arts. In 1996, he was invited by the East-West Center in Hawaii, to hold an exhibit on traditional Myanmar tapestries and to lecture on the subject. In the same year, he was invited to the UK by the program of cultural exchange together with Sayar Gyi U Maung Maung Tin (M.A) & U Win Maung (Tampawadi). In 1999, he traveled to Johannesburg in south Africa to oversea the interior decoration of the Myanmar Booth at the ASITEX Trade Fair, which highlighted Myanmar arts and culture.
