"ကစားမလား နားမလား / Gasar Ma Lar, Nar Ma Lar?" Group Art Exhibiti

Gallery 65 presents a new art event ""ကစားမလား နားမလား / Gasar Ma Lar, Nar Ma Lar?" featuring the works of 5 progressive Myanmar women artists. Literally translated, "Gasar Ma Lar, Nar Ma Lar?" in English means "Should we play or should we rest?" This is a common child's rhyme and chant that children of a bygone era used to call out to their friends in their neighborhoods. This call was an invitation to play with each other and all the children would come out of their homes to meet with their friends when this call was sounded by someone.

The exhibit explores the fading traditional games children used to play all across Myanmar. Games that are no longer seen being played today. Games that are now fast disappearing being replaced by Playstations and online gaming centers and the internet. These 5 women artists explore and bring back to life once again the traditional games that was once played by every child through multidisciplinary mediums such as video art, installation art, performance art, paintings and photography. Come see and experience the games that were once played in each corner street , yard, and in the homes of every village, town and neighborhood in Myanmar not so long ago.

The artists participating are:
May Moe Thu, Ma Ei, Zun Ei Phyu, Zoncy and Nwe.

The Exhibit opens on the 13th of June and runs until the 19th of June. Exhibit hours are from 9am to 5pm daily.
