"BEAUTIES OF EAST AND WEST" Art Exhibition

7th to 10th May, 2015

 

Gallery 65 presents a new Exhibition “BEAUTIES OF EAST & WEST” opening on the 7th and continuing until the 10th of May, 2015. This Exhibition will feature the paintings by 2 Artist friends, Ye Min (New York) and Than Soe. The Exhibit will feature over 40 paintings of the most recent works by these 2 artists and will feature paintings on the subject of Buddhist culture, Myanmar customs, and studies of different ethnic nationalities of Myanmar. The exhibit will also feature Artist Ye Min’s works featuring his renderings of western landscapes, native American culture, abstracts and nude art.

The proceeds from the sale of these paintings from the Exhibit will be donated to help and assist orphanages in Myanmar. The Exhibit hours are from 10am to 6pm daily. Please do visit the Exhibit and see you all at the gallery soon!

About the Artists:

Artist Ye Min (New York)
Born in Yangon in 1961, Ye Min’s grandfather U Chan Thar (Maharathaysithu ICS) painted as a hobby and apprenticed under Sayargyi U Ngwe Gaing. Ye Min attended the State School of Fine Arts Yangon from 1978 to 1980. He later earned a Law degree and married Ma Khin Oo Maw. He left Myanmar and migrated to the US in 1994 where he now resides in New York City with his family. He has worked as a screen print artist and is employed as a graphic artist in a women’s fashion apparel manufacturing company. He has since retired due to a serious illness and now is back to his lifelong love of painting and creating artworks. He now donates part of the proceeds from the sale of his artworks to orphanages through “Art for Orphans.”

Artist Than Soe
Born in Yangon in 1959 and graduated from the State School of Fine Arts Yangon in 1980. He has exhibited his works in shows “Remind “ (1978), “Remind 2” (2007), “Beauty of Bagan” (2011), “Myanmar Traditional Artist Water Colors” (2011), “Nat Ma Taung” (2012), “Hin Thar Ka Han” (2012), “Bahan Township Art Show” (2014), and “Transparent Watercolor Movement Society” (2015).

A percentage from the sale of the artworks from this exhibition will be donated to the “Lotaya Hinthada Kyaung (Monastery).”

Anyone wishing to donate any amount of money to the “Lotaya Hinthada Kyaung” can do so. Please ask our Gallery staff for assistance. The donations will be handed over to the Abbot of the Monastery Sayardaw U Tay Zi Thara when the exhibition is over.
